A winner! 👀👀👀 Last weekend we made a Tar A winner! 👀👀👀 Last weekend we made a Tarte Tatin, one of France’s most comforting desserts. Caramelised salty-buttery apples with a hint of vanilla bubble away in the oven underneath a flaky puff pastry. Then we turn the whole tart upside down, and the apples, caramel, and pastry all make a satisfying « whump » onto the serving plate. Yes, after 7 years, we are still discovering objects in barn, garage, attic, cider press area, and workshop. 😂😅 These are biscuit (cookie) and waffle irons. The flatter ones were of the type that were popular for making “oublies” in Medieval times, which were thin wafers sold in the streets of Paris. Oublies were usually taken from the iron and placed over a cylindrical object while still hot, to give them a nice curved shape, much as modern tuile cookies are shaped. What should I do with these?
